I hope you are feeling the abundance of love that surrounds you and is infinitely available to you today and always. The love that is beyond a romantic love - one that is unwavering and everlasting and exists deep inside your own heart and whole being.
“You are a person worthy of love. You don't have to do anything to prove that. You don't have to climb Mt. Everest, write a catchy tune that goes viral on YouTube, or be the CEO of a tech start up who cooks every meal from scratch using ingredients plucked from your organic garden. If you've received an award or there are no plaques proclaiming your exceptional gifts hanging on your walls, you still deserve all the love in the world. You do not have to earn love. You simply have to exist.”
I love this quote from Sharon Salzberg's book Real Love as so many of us (including myself) have this ingrained belief system that we have to somehow be extraordinary in order to be truly loved.
We can start to shift this conscious or unconscious belief system, however, by simply treating ourselves with a bit of compassion. It can be a small act of kindness - pouring yourself a cup of tea, lighting a candle or buying yourself some fresh flowers. As we start to flex that muscle those gestures start to get bigger. We start to say no to others when it isn't right for us, we carve out personal time and schedule it in our weekly calendar, we take time to sit in silence and honor what our inner voice and heart have to tell us.
